Background:
Wootton Upper School and Performing Arts College was awarded specialist status as an Arts College from September 2002. It has a large sixth form. The School has long been a centre of excellence in the arts. HRH The Earl of Wessex opened 'The McKeown Centre', the school's performing arts extension, in September 2003. This has greatly enhanced the school's facilities in music and dance. Its drama studio has also been completely refurbished. Students benefit from having access to a large sports hall and activities studio, which are used for badminton, basketball, circuit training, cricket, table tennis etc. There are extensive playing fields and netball and tennis courts. The school arranges educational visits during school hours to enrich student's experiences. The school aims to provide an education for all its students within a caring environment.
