Background:

Arnold Middle School is located at the foot of the Barton Hills Nature reserve. The school buildings date from 1958 and have a large sports field, four grass tennis courts, all-weather cricket pitch and a heated swimming pool alongside them. The conservation area is used for environmental study. The two buildings house classrooms, a full-size gymnasium, a school hall, offices, a science laboratory, a food and fabric room, a resouce centre, a technology room and a computer suite with the latest Nexus system technology. The school has seen 'excellent sporting results' in county championships. Every two years the school puts on a musical. Past performances have included Bugsy Malone and Grease. There are many extra-curricular clubs available including gymanstics, football, netball, recorders, chess, computer and choir. The school'supports the local old peoples' association with an annual tea party which it prepares, caters and serves at. Three fundraising events are held per year to raise money for local and national charities. 'It is our aim at Arnold School to provide every pupil with a wide range of experiences, interests and skills which will form the basis of his or her future learning and social development'.
