Background:

Woodside Middle School is a nine to 13 community school, organised on a year group with mixed ability classes for most subjects. A strong emphasis is placed on pastoral care within the curriculum to support children and ensure continuity and progression. The most impressive and refurbished art area provides an attractive large purpose-built room complete with sinks, worktops, kiln and two computers, which are networked for research. The school is proud of its spacious, well-equipped resistant materials workshop and refurbished food and textile areas. The design technology department, science laboratories and sports hall are all excellently equipped with modern facilities. The large playing fields, tennis courts, football fields, cricket pitches and athletics track provide every pupil with the determination to aim to be the best. The well resourced music suite provides an ideal environment for the children to develop their individual musical skills and awareness. There are many clubs and activities. Children are able to join the team games and other physical/performing activities. These include girls football, boys rugby, boys football, mixed hockey, badminton, mixed rounders, boys cricket, mixed athletics and clubs are frisbee club, chess club, netball club, gymnastics club, Christian union, role play club, dance club, French club and ICT club.
